Hampton U.-style Halloween

By Gabrielle Byrd

Hampton U. students, do you have plans? If not, here are some ideas.

Friday, Oct. 28, many students went to Kings Dominion for college night,
where students got in for $19.99 with a college ID instead of the regular price
of $58.99.

On Saturday, Oct. 29, Hampton University will be having a haunted house from
7 to 9 p.m. in the Student Center. Following will be a costume party “Fright
Fest Tales from the Crypt” from 9 p.m. until 1 a.m. in Holland Gym. Tickets are
$3 in advance and $5 the day of the event.

It’s a good idea to go to a Halloween party in with a creative costume.
Every year there is a costume that is considered overused. In 2010 there were many
girls dressed up as Lady GaGa or Nicki Minaj. The Jersey Shore cast was also a
hit. Many fans put on muscle T-shirts to imitate “The Situation” and spiked
their hair to portray Pauly D. Many girls wore little black dresses and teased
their hair with as much hairspray as they could find in order to be just like
Snookie.

Will the 2011 overused costumes be the similar to last year? Brittany Brown,
a junior, public relations major from Los Angeles, said “I think this year the
most overused costumes will be nurses, Wonder Woman, and nerds.”

Seki Mangum, a sophomore broadcast journalism major from Richmond, Va., said
that she could see a lot of girls dressed up as Pocahontas and she expects to
see many varieties of police officers.

But for the results, we will just have to wait and see.
